CyberKongz

The website and app design for CyberKongz, one of the original NFT projects, as it moved to a single token.

Context

CyberKongz launched in 2021 as a collection of pixel-art apes and grew into an ecosystem: Baby Kongz, VX avatars, Genkai, the Wall Street Kongz trading community, tools like TrenchBot, and a token. In 2025 that token, $BANANA, was being upgraded to $KONG, and the team wanted the brand to lead with the token and the tools built around it. CyberKongz brought LayerTwo in that spring to design a new website, build it in Webflow and design the app screens behind it. We worked alongside their in-house designer and developers, and the site launched in August 2025.

Strategy

The strategy was to carry holders from the CyberKongz they remember to the ecosystem it had become, with $KONG as the bridge. $KONG is an upgrade of $BANANA, and the brand treats the project’s history as the first part of the token’s story. When the CyberKongz team reviewed the first home page, they said it read as a snapshot of what had happened over the years. The shipped home and About pages run the history as a dated timeline, from Genesis Kongz in March 2021 to 2025, and the last entry hands straight to $KONG, one token to power an ecosystem. The $KONG page carries a line from the CyberKongz team: holding $KONG means you become a Kong.

Design Direction

The pixel-art Kongz and their rainbow shades set the colour, on a near-black field. A CRT texture over the artwork gives the screens the look of early computer monitors and games, a nod to the project’s 2021 roots. TWK Everett sets the headlines, and Tronica Mono handles data, labels and detail. The logo keeps the original cyberpunk feel in a cleaner form, and the “ck” mark or the rainbow shades stand in for it at small sizes.

Website

The site runs on one set of modules across six pages: Home, About, $KONG, the $KONG Whitepaper, Community and Collections. The home page opens on “The Home of Web3” and moves through the products, the timeline, $KONG and Wall Street Kongz. Collections gives Genesis, Baby Kongz, VX and Genkai a panel each, marked with the year each began. GSAP drives the motion, and the CRT texture was made in Unicorn Studio.

App

We designed the app screens for collectors: the dashboard, the collections, a detail page for each Kong, profiles with collector levels, and the flows that move holders onto the new contracts. The team asked for a quick migration, because the aim was to get as many holders as possible onto the new contract. They also asked that reveals and upgrades play as full-screen events. Profiles leave it to collectors to fill in their own. CyberKongz’s developers built the app.
